LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The University of Kentucky is marking a record-setting fall semester with several milestones in enrollment.
UK President Eli Capilouto announced Friday at a Board of Trustees meeting the university has 38,719 students enrolled, an increase from the 35,951 students last fall, according to a release.
In addition, the university is celebrating some big milestones set by the Fall 2025 enrollment:Â
- First-time, first-year students enrolled for Fall 2025 is 7,012, up from 6,513 from Fall 2024.
- For the first time, more than 4,000 first-year students are from Kentucky.
- A record number of about 1,900 students are first-generation students.
- More than 8,100 students live on campus, more than 270 from last year.Â
The university also said in a release enrollment in the health care colleges has increased this year with more than 7,600 students enrolled.Â
“Part of the success in those growing numbers is my belief that at the University of Kentucky, we must do more and be more for our state by helping to create a healthier Kentucky for generations to come,” Capilouto said in the release.Â
To meet the needs of the next generation, the university is building a new residence hall that is expected to open next year, allowing almost 700 more students to live on campus. The university is also investing in the well-being of its students by expanding and creating new programs to address mental health, foster lifelong healthy habits, and support students outside of the classroom.
