LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Hundreds of employees at the University of Kentucky are facing layoffs following changes to campus service operations.

According to a federal WARN notice, 926 employees with the food services provider Aramark Campus will lose their jobs after the university's partnership with the company ends June 30. That includes 890 hourly workers and 36 salaried employees.

The university said it is exploring a new enterprise services partnership that includes dining and concessions.

According to reporting from FOX56, both Aramark and UK believe workers affected by layoffs will receive employment opportunities with the university's new provider.

"We are also working with impacted employees to access other job opportunities within our company," said Chris Collum, Aramark's vice president of corporate communications.

UK spokesperson Jay Blanton said he "can’t comment on Aramark’s internal employment decisions" but that the university encouraged its new provider to retain any current employees.

Aramark has provided food and dining services for the university since 2014. Blanton said the company was given an 180-day notice that the partnership was ending, per the terms of its contract.

Two other WARN layoff notices were also sent out to the UK College of Medicine Department of Behavioral Science and UK Healthcare HIV Program Operations. Due to the discontinuation of grand funding, 96 employees within those departments will also lose their jobs after June 30.

Blanton said UK will try to help those employees find other jobs at the university, FOX56 reported.

Regardless, the employees will receive 60 days of notice and pay.
