LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A fallen Kentucky firefighter was laid to rest Saturday.
Lieutenant Brian Hatt was a volunteer with the Raywick Fire Department.
He died on Monday after the tanker truck he was driving overturned on KY 537 in Marion County as he was on his way to assist Loretto Fire Department on a fire call. The truck dropped off the right shoulder, causing the edge of the road to collapse.Â
Hatt lost control and crossed the highway before the truck went off the left side, struck an embankment and overturned. He was ejected, and his passenger — 58-year-old Leonard Winkler, also of Raywick — became trapped inside.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery. A visitation was held beforehand at the Marion County Events Center.
