LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A lot of University of Louisville baseball fans have been waiting a long time to see the Cardinals back in the College World Series.
This year, they get to see it.
After beating the University of Miami 3-2 in Game 3 of the NCAA Super Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium, the Cards will hit the road to Omaha for the first time in six years.
Carol Krebs is a Louisville baseball season ticket holder. She went to all three of Louisville's Super Regional games.
"Been here every morning at about 9 a.m., make sure we get a parking space, go get something to eat, run in and enjoy the game," Krebs said.
For longtime fans, the moment was extra sweet.
"I think this season's energy has been a lot better, it's been a lot more prevalent, and I think we've also had a lot more of a show out with fans," UofL graduate Kaitlyn Damron said.
Damron said she's even thinking about packing her bags and booking a flight to Omaha.
Whether fans make the trip or not, it's safe to say they'll be wearing their red and black and hoping the Cardinals bring some hardware back to Louisville.
"I think if they could get themselves just calm and realize they're here for a reason and it's okay, just enjoy your time whether wherever you are," Krebs said.
The first day of the College World Series isĀ Friday, June 13.
