LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It was a special night at the Muhammad Ali Center as it hosted its first ever boxing event.
The Rudell Stitch Boxing Classic took over the Center on Saturday. Stitch was a former sparing partner of Ali. Tim "Mayhem" Moten took on Ricardo Humberto Ramirez for the ABO America's Heavyweight title.
WDRB's Gilbert Corsey served as the ring announcer. For some, fighting in the Ali Center was a full circle movement.
"To be in this building and being the first person to like put this on, it has been a dream and to be able to fight and win my first one is also a dream," boxer and fighter organizer Lee Kiper said.
The event also had global appeal for fighters with some coming in from as far as Los Angeles, Argentina and Mexico.
