Hikes Point murder victim identified, police still searching for suspects

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was shot and killed Tuesday night in Hikes Point.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. at the Enclave at Breckinridge apartment complex on Church Park Circle, near Breckinridge and Hunsinger Lanes.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bob Jones has identified the victim as 20-year-old Benjamin Turner. He was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds at University Hospital at 11 p.m.

Turner did not live at the complex.

LMPD spokesman Alicia Smiley says she's not certain if more than one person was involved in the shooting.

"At this point, I can't even tell you if we're just talking one suspect or if there may have been other people involved as well," Smiley said.

This is the second deadly shooting at that apartment complex in the past two months; an 18-year-old was killed on his birthday on June 29th.

Neighbors at the Enclave at Breckenridge apartments say they're getting a little bit too used to hearing gunfire.

"This is the second time in probably two months," said neighbor John Bean. "We had one at the other end of the complex. It's usually a quiet neighborhood, but it could happen anywhere."
