LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It was homecoming Thursday night in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.
The community dinner connects people who care about the neighborhood like residents, business owners and community leaders.
It was hosted by RPOP, Russell: A Place of Promise.
The organization, with the help of others, aims to bolster Black-owned businesses and help people secure homeownership and careers in Russell.
"It brings the community together so we can all share together what we want to do to build and grow and develop our community as a whole," Delores Butler said.
Homecoming is usually a weekend-long event, but the coming storm from hurricane Helene prompted organizers to cancel the remaining events.
