LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Judge Fran Gull, the Allen County judge who gained national attention for presiding over the Delphi murders trial, is retiring at the end of her term in December.
Gull has served on the bench since 1996, overseeing high-profile cases that have put her in the national spotlight.
She presided over the 2024 trial of Richard Allen, who was convicted of murdering 13-year-old Libby German and 14-year-old Abby Williams, whose deaths in 2017 went unsolved for years.
Allen was sentenced to 130 years in prison, and his lawyers are now seeking to overturn the conviction.
After decades on the bench, Gull is stepping away from the courtroom. The high-profile cases she handled took a personal toll, and she is looking forward to slowing down after years of service.
