LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Oldham County man made the most of playing a new Kentucky Lottery game.
The Pewee Valley man, who asked to remain anonymous, purchased a $5,000,000 Fortune ticket at Cubert's Qwik Stop in Shelbyville on Oct. 10. It was the first day the game went on sale.
The $5,000,000 ticket features a $5 million top prize, which is the highest Scratch-off prize in Kentucky Lottery history. While he didn't walk away with $5 million, he ended up with a nice prize.
The man took home the ticket and scratched it off while on his lunch break. He discovered he had matched the number 46, winning the game's $50,000 second prize.
"I couldn’t believe what I saw so I went back to the store and asked, 'Can we confirm this?'" he told Kentucky Lottery officials. "It was a dream."
He presented the winning ticket to lottery officials later that day. He left with a check for $36,000 after taxes. He told lottery officials he plans to pay off bills with his winnings.
Cubert's Qwik Stop will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.Â
