LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County sheriff's deputies are credited with saving a woman's life Friday in downtown Louisville.
Deputies assigned to the Hall of Justice found a woman unconscious with shallow breathing lying on the porch area outside of the building Friday morning, the sheriff's office said in a release.
The deputies moved the woman inside out of the cold, assessed her and gave her Narcan. The woman responded and was transported to the hospital.
The deputies were working the magnetometer post near the entrance to the Hall of Justice, trained not only in security but emergency response as well. One of the deputies is a former EMT, and that experience and training kicked in to help save the woman.
"This incident underscores the importance of the work our MAGS deputies do every day,” said Chief Deputy Col. Steve Healey in the release. “Their awareness, training and professionalism made the difference in a critical moment.”
The woman's condition has not been released.
