LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky priest who is well-known for his kindness and generosity is stepping up to help the families of the children killed by the flooding in Texas.

Rev. Jim Sichko in Lexington is offering to help families pay for the funerals of some of the victims who died during the devastating floods that killed more than 100 people.

Sichko posted the offer on X over the weekend, writing: "PLEASE SHARE To any parent who lost a child in the Texas flooding: As a papal Missionary of Mercy, I will cover the full cost of your child's funeral, should you so need."

The post said Sichko and his ministry can work with the victims' families and the funeral homes to take care of the costs.

It's not the first time Sichko has provided help to those in need: in January 2024 he paid $10,000 worth of utility bills for Kentucky residents. He also collected donations for people impacted by severe flooding in eastern Kentucky, auctioned items to help western Kentucky tornado victims, and has been known to pay hospital bills for people.
