LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Lanes on the Sherman Minton Bridge are scheduled to close for multiple weekends in March.
The right lane of Interstate 64 westbound, which goes from Louisville to southern Indiana, will be closed several weekends in March. Crews will be pouring concrete on the top deck of the bridge.
The closure is scheduled on the following times:
- Starting March 1 at 6 p.m. until March 2 at 1 p.m.
- Starting March 15 at 6 p.m. until March 16 at 1 p.m.
- Starting March 22 at 6 p.m. until March 23 at 1 p.m.
According to a news release Tuesday, the lane restriction will prevent access to the New Albany exit ramp during the noted times. Traffic will still be able to continue on I-64 westbound by using the left lane.
Delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
The Sherman Minton Renewal is rehabilitating and painting the 61-year-old structure in a project that will add up to 30 years of life to the six-lane double-decked bridge that carries traffic over the Ohio River between Louisville and New Albany.
Construction on the bridge is a multi-phase project.Â
