LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville Gas and Electric line technician killed while working on a power line in Oldham County last week was honored this week by his colleagues, friends and family as a loving husband and father.

Kyle Ferree, of Corydon, Indiana, was identified by his family. His mother, Mary Ferree, said her son was crazy about his family, a great husband and devoted father to one- and three-year-old little girls, with another on the way.

His colleagues gathered for a final call tribute and procession earlier this week. A voice on the call can be heard saying "He has climbed his last pole ... We will take it from here."

Mary Ferree said Kyle was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.

He died Nov. 6 after being electrocuted while working to reconductor a power line in Oldham County, an LG&E spokesperson said at the time. He was 26 years old.

Despite the dangers of the job, his mother said he loved his work and the brotherhood.

"It's definitely a dangerous occupation, but he loved it," she said. "It's definitely a calling, and we just continue to pray for the safety of all the other linemen and women out there."

Mary Ferree said she can feel the love from all of the prayers, and it's her faith that keeps her strong.

"It's because he was baptized," she said. "And Kyle was a believer. And he was a Christian man and what's keeping me going is just my faith in knowing that I'll see him again some day."

Kyle's work family set up a fundraising page on Help a Hero, with the help of the National Sisterhood United for JOurneymen Linemen, to help support his wife and children. Those wishing to donate can do so by clicking here.

Cody Wright, a friend and co-worker who shared the final call video, said in a Facebook post that Kyle wasn't just a co-worker, he was a friend and "the kind of man you don't replace." Wright's post went on to ask for prayers for Kyle's family, and donations from those who are able.
