LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It was tag team wrestling in Charlestown, Indiana, and kids were the winners Thursday evening.

The City of Charlestown partnered with Derby City Wrestling for the special event, Reading and Wristlocks. It was a special day of wrestlers reading to children, taking pictures and signing autographs.

It was a creative way to promote literacy at the Family Activities Center followed of course, by some action in the ring.

The wrestlers tell us that they feel a personal attachment to events like these.

"My first job was in a library," pro wrestler Omega Masden said.

WDRB's pro wrestling guru Gil Corsey helped organize the event.

Derby City Wrestling airs its weekly matches Saturdays at Noon on My58.
