LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's airport helped travelers get in the spirit of the spooky season on Wednesday.
The airport teamed up with the organizers behind the city's Jack O'Lantern Spectacular at Iroquois Park to bring in one of the lead artists to carve a special pumpkin in the middle of the airport.
"It's absolutely amazing for folks to be able to see this, and you're right this is the first time we've done kind of a public display of the artists at work," Brooke Pardue, with the Parks Alliance of Louisville, said.
The Jack O'Lantern Spectacular features more than 5,000 pumpkins meticulously carved by artists and illuminated along a trail.
This is the 13th year for the annual event that started last week. Attendees walk through the historic woods of Iroquois Park down a glowing path lined with pumpkins made by local artists. The theme this year is Jack's Pun-King Trail: A Trailway of Wordplay.
The Jack O'Lantern Spectacular runs through Nov. 2. Proceeds from ticket sales go to the Parks Alliance of Louisville, and its mission to invest in the city's public parks.
More than 115,000 people went to see the pumpkins last year. To learn more, look at pricing and an FAQ for the event, or to purchase tickets, click here.
