LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An uptick in COVID-19 cases has the attention of Louisville doctors.
They attribute the rise to people spending more time indoors because it's so hot, and having summer gatherings.
Baptist Health in Louisville has nine COVID patients. The average is between three and five.Â
This is a smaller jump in cases than during the pandemic, and people who are currently hospitalized are not on ventilators. However, doctors said they're seeing plenty cases of COVID-related pneumonia.
"For my patients who are coming in now to see me, if they're telling me they're going to be traveling, maybe they're going to Paris for the Olympics, which I'm very jealous of. Or, if they're going to be going in for a surgery or a procedure or a big concert event, I'm encouraging them to get the COVID vaccine," said Dr. Monalisa Tailor, with Norton Healthcare.
A new version of the shot to best fight the current strain of COVID-19 comes out in September.
