LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Fire Department partnered with a local boy to hang bat houses around the Greenwood Cemetery.
Henry Pape led the service project to earn an Eagle Scout badge. He made six bat houses and placed them around the cemetery with the help of the fire department and its ladders.
The bat houses are expected to bring more bats to the environment to help control insects in the area.
"Bat boxes are really important because bats are one of the main predators of mosquitoes and bugs you don't really want hovering around," said Pape.
The cemetery is currently being renovated, and officials have been looking for ways to enhance the wildlife.
