LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā For the fifth year, the Black Boy Joy Club brought Black boys and men together for a day of connection, leadership and fun.
The 2026 conference was held Saturday at Burnett Avenue Baptist Church, where attendees spent the day with coaches, business owners and community leaders.
The event included conversations about mental health, along with practical advice on fitness and nutrition.
For Cortez Hampton of the Black Boy Joy Club, the idea behind the organization is personal.
"A lot of times even when Black men pass away, they have pictures where they're not smiling. Or they're not having a good time," Hampton said. "So I wanted to invest in the joy in our community and invest in my son."
Hampton said the conference is one way to create that space while giving young people the opportunity to learn from positive role models.
