LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police are investigating after a Metro Corrections vehicle collided with another vehicle in downtown Louisville Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the intersection of 3rd and Broadway around 7 p.m. on a two-vehicle crash, according to Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department. When police arrived, they found a Louisville Metro Department of Corrections cruiser and a Honda Accord had crashed.

Ellis said EMS was called to the scene, checking on both the LMDC officer and the other driver. The LMDC officer was taken to University of Louisville hospital as a precaution, and is expected to be OK. Ellis said the other driver refused treatment by EMS, and "appears to be OK."

Hailey Gallo, driver of the Honda Accord, told WDRB she was headed home, driving down 3rd Street with the flow of traffic and had the green light when the crash happened.

"I got t-boned on my side and immediately came over here," Gallo told WDRB. "Car stops. I couldn't get out of my car on the driver's side, so I climb over and get out of the passenger. I get to the ground and just start crying. I have no idea what to do."

LMPD is investigating, and the cause of the crash is not known.
