LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An NBA star and Louisville native is continuing a Thanksgiving tradition.
D'Angelo Russell and his foundation have been handing out turkeys for several years now.
This year, it's happening Sunday, Nov. 24. Russell and several community partners will distribute 2,000 turkeys and perishable food items to families in need throughout west Louisville.
The distribution will be held from 1-4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Kroger on West Broadway.
Russell is no stranger to giving back to his community. In March, he made a $100,000 donation to the city to make improvements at Algonquin Park.
The LA Lakers star grew up within walking distance of the park, and credits those basketball courts with making him the player he is today.
In June, a new court was unveiled at Algonquin Park. It was painted black and features his logo at center court.
