LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Education leaders are celebrating the opening of a new Head Start facility Thursday.
Burnett Head Start now becomes Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative's 22nd facility in the region and sixth in Jefferson County.
It has a licensed capacity to serve up to 62 Head Start and Early Head Start children.
“I am so proud of our team for opening our 22nd Head Start facility in our region and our sixth in Jefferson County,” Jason Adkins, OVEC CEO, said in a news release. “This a strategic location for serving children and families in multiple neighborhoods and enticing educators to make a difference at Head Start.”
After a soft opening in December, 28 children now attend. Head Start programs support children's growth from birth to age 5 before they enter Kindergarten.
