LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Residents in Old Louisville now have a new way to stay cool during the hot summer months.
Mayor Craig Greenberg and Olmsted Parks Conservancy cut the ribbon on a new splash pad Wednesday in Central Park, which is between South 4th and South 6th streets.
The splash pad is part of a $1.3 million accessible play area renovation that has been four years in the making.
Construction costs paused the project just after the pandemic in 2020.Â
"This is so special because this is ADA compliant, too. This is for all bodies, anybody, any age, too. It's welcoming," Amanda Pendley, Old Louisville resident, said.
Olmsted Parks Conservancy is also constructing a new Nature Play Space that will include games like tic tac toe and wood instruments.
