LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new alternative designed to provide a solution for cell phone bans in the classroom, as well as student attendance and behavioral monitoring, was unveiled in Louisville on Monday.

Barber Solution Consulting presented the three pillars to the Smart School Dome System.

The three pillars include smart signal, plate smart and facial recognition for education.

The system uses AI software to account for students from the moment they step onto a bus to the moment they are back home. It also deals with the perimeter and the traffic coming in and out of the school property.

The project was designed to make parents feel at ease.

"The main thing is to keep the children focused on education. By redirecting the data and taking control of it, we have the opportunity to get them back into libraries, get them back into labs, get them focused on what they should be, education," Dereck Barber, CEO of Barber Solution Consulting, said.

The system is ready to deploy in Kentucky classrooms now. Cell phone companies must comply before it gets implemented. It's not clear at this point whether any local schools plan to implement the system.
