LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Move over Oregon, there's a new NCAA basketball court taking the spotlight today. Northern Kentucky University unveiled the school's new basketball court, complete with a large viking ship painted on it.
As part of Northern Kentucky University's new strategic plan, 'Uprising,' a golden watermarked viking ship rises from the sideline of the court. The new court surface, unveiled Wednesday morning, has garnered national attention and has been featured on CBSSports.com.
"We wanted a new, fresh look for the court to showcase the Norse brand," said Director of Athletics Ken Bothof. "The Norse ship rising through the sea is meant to serve as a metaphor for the uprising of Northern Kentucky athletics."
John L. Griffin Court in BB&T Arena serves as the home for both NKU men's and women's basketball teams. The new court also features NKUNorse.com and @NKUNorse in front of the benches.
