LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Norton Elementary's principal traded his office for the school roof Friday after the community reached its playground fundraising goal.
Principal Brent Fiaschetti and the assistant principal spent the day working from the roof as a way to celebrate the school's fundraising success.
The Norton Elementary PTA and community set a goal of $50,000 to replace the school's aging playground. They reached and surpassed the goal in just two weeks.
The current playground needs repairs, with slides falling apart and parts of the swingset beginning to bend.
Fiaschetti said the community's support has brought a lot of excitement to the school, especially among students.
"The amount of enthusiasm and waving and just so much fun that they're having when they come out for recess, when they came in this morning in carpool," Fiaschetti said.
