LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Republican Jim Banks will represent Indiana in the U.S. Senate.
The Associated Press called the race in favor of Banks at 7 p.m., defeating Democratic nominee Valerie McCray. Banks secured 62.6% of the vote as 14% of votes have been counted.
Banks has been the front-runner in the U.S. Senate race after Donald Trump gave his endorsement. He sat alongside Trump and JD Vance at the Republican National Convention.
Banks has served as a U.S. representative for Indiana's 3rd congressional district since 2017.
McCray is a clinical psychologist from Indianapolis and is the first Black woman in Indiana to become a mayor party's nominee for U.S. Senate. She also ran for president in 2020.
Andrew Horning ran in the libertarian position and he's been a figure in Indiana elections for 30 years.
