LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $950 million for the next drawing scheduled for Saturday night.

The jackpot rolled on after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Wednesday night - 9-12-22-41-61 with a red Powerball of 25 and a 4x Power Play.

Powerball officials said Saturday’s jackpot ranks as the game’s sixth-largest prize and the biggest advertised jackpot in more than a year, with an estimated cash value on $428.9 million.

Saturday’s Powerball drawing will be the 39th drawing since the jackpot was last won in May.

The odds of winning the top prize are miserable, at 1 in 292.2 million. It’s those odds that create the large jackpots that are designed to attract attention and drive up sales.

Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since its first drawing in 1992, the Powerball game has helped generate more than $36 billion for good causes supported by U.S. lotteries.
