LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Powerball jackpot keeps climbing! The prize rose to $1.3 billion for Wednesday night's drawing.
The jackpot rolled on after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Monday night -Â 8, 23, 25, 40, 53 and red Powerball of 5 and a 3x Power Play.
Powerball officials said Wednesday's jackpot ranks as the fifth largest in the game's history and the ninth largest among U.S. lottery jackpot games.
Despite there being no jackpot winner after Monday's drawing, ten tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes including one in Kentucky. The $1 million-winning tickets were also sold in California, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, two in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Kentucky Lottery officials will release where the $1 million winner was sold after verifies the numbers.Â
Wednesday's drawing will be the 41st since the jackpot was last hit in California on May 31. The longest Powerball jackpot run to date has been 42 consecutive drawings.
If a player wins Wednesday’s jackpot, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize estimated at $1.30 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $589.0 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Â
Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET, broadcast live from the Florida Lottery studio in Tallahassee and streamed on Powerball.com.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
