LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Council members representing the south end said they're ready to crack down on illegal ATV and dirt bike riding.
Councilman Jonathan Joseph raised the issue on Facebook, writing that riders are "tearing down main roads, weaving through traffic, taunting officers and acting like the law does not apply to them."
Council members are considering tougher fines and possibly seizing vehicles used illegally, and some southwest Louisville residents said the city is focusing on punishment instead of solutions.
A post on the Valley Station Community Facebook page said the city has ignored requests for a safe, legal place to ride while spending neighborhood money on drones, cameras and enforcement.
"They call it 'public safety,'" the post said. "We call it political theater."
