LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — This weekend fans of body art are taking over the Kentucky International Convention Center for the Louisville Tattoo Festival.
More than 200 local, national and international artists are showing off their skills and talents.
There were 20 categories of competitions. This event is new for the area and features vendors ranging from oddities to clothing.
Organizers knew the Derby City was a perfect fit for a festival like this.
"Louisville has an incredible art scene, it's a historic city, the people of Louisville like good things so whenever we find a place like that we know that is where we want to be," said festival organizer Quinn Hurley.
"You get more energy with the different groups and you can see a lot of variety in the artists, lot of different types of work," said Tate Wortham with Equinox Tattoo.
If you missed Saturday there is still time to check it out Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and tickets are $30 cash only at the door.
