The Bakery at Sullivan University reopens after closing in 2020

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sullivan University's bakery is back and sweeter than ever.

The Bakery held a soft opening Thursday at its original location on Bardstown Road, near Interstate 264.

It closed back in 2020 after the school said it wanted to focus its resources on educational programs.

The Bakery was known for its cakes and pastries.

Organizers said the initial opening will include a more limited menu, including breads and crowd favorites, but it will continue to grow.

"The goal is to hopefully invite people in to not only enjoy the local pastries and the culinary creations but also to stop and breathe and relax and just take a little time out of your busy day to just be," Emily Kunkel, Sullivan University marketing manager, said.

The Bakery also has a coffee bar.

The official grand opening is scheduled for this Tuesday, Oct. 3.
