LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A violent weekend in Louisville left 15 people shot — three of them fatally — in just two days, according to police.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said Monday that the violent crimes being committed do not represent the city as a whole.
"This is not Louisville," Greenberg said. "This is a few people, who are committing harm, who are causing harm."
At least six shootings happened between Saturday and Sunday in various parts of the city, including Pleasure Ridge Park, the Jacobs neighborhood, the Iroquois neighborhood and Cane Run Road near Lake Dreamland Park. Several of the shootings ended with multiple victims, including an early morning shooting Sunday in a parking lot on Raggard Road in Pleasure Ridge Park.

Police originally said six people were shot in the shooting at Raggard Road. But Monday afternoon, said a seventh victim showed up at the hospital.
"We had seven individuals who sustained injuries from gunshot wounds. An additional individual showed up today at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital that was at that incident. But again, that incident is being investigated by our Non-Fatal Shooting Unit," said Louisville Metro Police Homicide Unit Commander Lt. Les Skaggs.
Police said the shooting on Raggard Road included five juvenile victims and two adult victims. They're all expected to survive, but Louisville activist Christopher 2X said those individuals still have a long road ahead.
"What people need to understand, what they (victims) have to go through and the process they have to go through once they get rushed to the hospital and then try to recover where they're in there for a day or several weeks or months. It's a long, grinding process to try to get to back to normalcy and sometimes they never do because the fear factor still lingers with them," said 2X.
The city has recorded more than 140 homicides every year since 2020. So far this year, information from LMPD shows there have been more than 70 homicides in 2024. Skaggs said there is a variety of reasons for the uptick in violence.
"It's been a consistent over the past several years of violence, of retaliations, of grudges, of senseless acts of violence that are retaliated against in many cases which then escalates and continues on that cycle," Skaggs said.
Some Kentuckiana residents like Kay Brooks expressed hope for the future, but said the violence has been constant for years.
"There's been times that I've been angry, but I just couldn't bring myself to cause harm to someone like that," Brooks said.
LMPD is again urging people in the community to come forward with information as homicide detectives continue to work cases. Anyone with information can call the department's Crime Tip Line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673).
"They work tirelessly, long hours," Skaggs said. "Obviously, when we have a weekend like this it takes every resource we have. Many of those detectives are working multiple cases and working multiple scenes through the weekend."
2X is the executive director of Game Changers. The organization focuses on kids between the ages of 4 and13 to work toward an end to gun violence. 2X said he's encouraged after finding more and more people working toward a brighter future.
"We shouldn't have to wait for the next generation to grow up to see these numbers go in another direction on the downtick," he said. "However, we need to keep a mindset that we have to do both. We have to immediately attack this issue, and equally at the same time, build with the younger ones."
2X said he does not want people to lose hope.
"Even when we see all this ugliness going on with the reckless gun violence, we have a common interest in trying to make things better because we see kids and want them to see a better day," he said.
As of Monday afternoon, LMPD said no arrests have been made in the homicide cases from the weekend. While Skaggs said some of the cases have a suspect or person of interest — he would not specify which cases.
He also said LMPD does not believe any of the three homicide cases from the weekend are connected to each other.
In addition to the shootings Saturday and Sunday, LMPD said there were two other non-fatal shootings Friday night.
