LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A showcase of classic cars this weekend will help provide Halloween treats and Christmas gifts for dozens of children in need.
It's part of an annual fundraiser to benefit Childplace Family Services in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
The nonprofit provides services to children who have been abandoned, abused and neglected.
"You can imagine, if you're a child and you can't be at home for the holidays, particularly Christmas, when everybody is happy and you're not able to be at home," said Nathan Samuel, president and CEO of Childplace. "That's a pretty difficult time, so we just want to make it as normal and as positive as possible for them."
This Saturday, the Clark County Auto Auction will host a classic car trunk-or-treat competition. The goal is to raise at least $20,000 to provide Christmas for the 50 children at Childplace Family Services.
Organizers said categories include best in show, best flat ride and children's choice.
"It has been an awesome thing for us, we enjoy doing it," said Stephanie Collins, assistant general manager for Clark County Auto Auction. "For the kids, that's the biggest thing, and tomorrow when we do our fundraiser, we have one donor that is matched up to the first thousand, and then we have one that is going to match up to everything that we get collected."
The event is happening this Saturday, Oct. 7, from 5-7 p.m. at the Clark County Auto Auction on Auction Lane, off 10th Street before Allison Lane, in Jeffersonville. It costs $20 per car to enter.
