LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group of Jefferson County Public Schools students got a behind the scenes look at how Metro Government operates.

Members of the Black Student Union at Westport Middle School visited Metro Hall Thursday afternoon.

The group toured the historic building and had an opportunity to meet with Mayor Craig Greenberg, who spoke to the students and answered questions in the Mayor's Gallery.

"So far, my experience has been really fun," eighth grader Ashiya Carter said. "I've learned a lot of stuff for the future and the impact on the world so far, and it's been really fun."

In 2020, JCPS started an effort to create Black Student Unions at every middle and high school in the district.
