LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A World War II veteran celebrated his 102nd birthday in Kentucky on Saturday.

Paul Jones will turn 102 later this month, but a party was held on Saturday. Jones was a pilot in the U.S. Navy and now lives in Corbin, Ky. He drove himself all the way to the party.

Jones also went on a Bluegrass Honor Flight last year.

"It was an honor being with those people because most of them have more combat experience than I did and I really appreciated the opportunity to be with them," Jones said.

Jones said the key to a long life is staying busy.

"He was the first one off the plane and was going 'c'mon people, what's the hold up, let's get going,'" said Wayne Hettinger, Bluegrass Honor Flight board member. "He would lead the way and I was in awe of that because his energy level is unbelievable."

Jones still lives alone and spends time going out with his friends every day.
