In December, the bronze top hat that sits next to the former president was stolen from the sculpture, all 40 pounds of it ripped right off.

A top hat that's part of an Abraham Lincoln statue at Waterfront Park has been stolen.

The southern Indiana amphitheater is located about halfway between Louisville and Evansville in Lincoln State Park.

The program focuses on beautifying public spaces with colorful artwork.

"As far as I'm aware, this has not been done on this scale," said artist Shaun Murphy.

All members of the public are invited to the event.

The Founder's Gallery, which opened in March 2018, includes a display of objects representing different U.S. presidents. 

Senate Bill 138 — co-sponsored by Sen. Max Wise, R-16, and Sen. Robby Mills, R-4 — would require historical documents, like the Bill of Rights and Mayflower Compact, to be taught in schools, as well as a variety of speeches given from people like Abraham Lincoln, Booker T. Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., and Ronald Reagan.
