Anchorage Middletown Fire crews are on scene of a fire at a senior living facility in Middletown.

One person was hospitalized after an apartment fire in east Louisville early Saturday morning.

Firefighters battled a late-night house fire on Harkaway Avenue, working in freezing conditions to contain the flames after the home’s lone occupant escaped safely.

Officials are praising the actions of a sanitation truck driver who heard the worker's cries for help and used her radio to alert other MSD workers. 

He brings 28 years of experience in fire service leadership and management.

The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. Monday night near the Westport Road exit.

The fire started around 3 a.m. in the 13400 block of Forest Springs Drive, off of LaGrange Road.

An Anchorage Middletown Fire and EMS firefighter is dead after a tragic accident.

Thomas Petschke Jr. was taken to Norton Hospital, but he didn't survive.
