The department released a video Wednesday on Facebook of how it all went down.
Clay Carter, 21, only had the car for three months before it was stolen off East Main Street while the recent graduate was at work.
LMPD said there have been 2,451 reports of stolen vehicles so far this year in the city. That's down compared to this time last year when 2,975 vehicles were reported stolen.
Police said they've also recovered stolen vehicles and stolen firearms.
Surveillance video shows the suspects kicking in the door, grabbing car keys and then driving cars off the lot.
The Oldham County Police Department is currently installing its own flock cameras, and resource officers hope will help with growing car thefts in the area.
As of Wednesday, police estimated about 14 theft and attempted theft reports were taken.
After a WDRB News report about used car lots being hit by thieves, a representative of several new car dealerships on Shelbyville Road said they've also been hit hard.
Police agencies in Hardin County are warning people about what they call "an alarming crime trend" involving vehicle thefts.
It is unclear if the thefts are linked, but St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson said concern is high among dealerships in the area.
