Starting Monday, Jefferson County Public Schools ls reducing its number of free COVID-19 testing sites to one.Â
The vaccines will be administered indoors while the COVID-19 testing will take place in vehicles at numbered parking spaces.
The tests can be done via saliva collection or a nasal swab.
Site organizers said they're trying to increase accessibility of testing across the city as they see increased demand to get tested.Â
Bluewater Diagnostics is running the site, administering 800 to 1,200 tests each day.
The new site opened as the demand to get tested continues to grow.
COVID19 tests remain in high demand.
The restrictions come as tests are becoming more in demand amid rising COVID case numbers across the nation.
At UofL Health's downtown testing site off Brook Street, around 400 or more COVID-19 tests are done each day.
The move is in response to increased demand for testing the day before students prepare to return to class.
