LMPD Detective Deidre Mengedoht died on Christmas Eve in 2018 when Roger Burdette crashed his tanker truck into her car.

Louisville Metro Police unveiled an updated gym at the Second Division in honor of Det. Deidre Mengedoht.

Roger Burdette was driving an MSD truck when he crashed into Mengedoht's unmarked cruiser as she was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 64 on Dec. 24, 2018. 

Burdette was found guilty last week of murder for hitting and killing LMPD Detective Deidre Mengedoht in a crash on Interstate 64 on Christmas Eve 2018. 

The former MSD truck driver was convicted of murder Tuesday night for the death of Det. Deidre Mengedoht. 

The trial is expected to wrap up early next week.

A jury heard Wednesday from the driver that Louisville Metro Police Detective Deidre Mengedoht pulled over before Roger Burdette crashed into the back of her unmarked car, killing her.

Roger Burdette's trial was supposed to start in July but was delayed to make sure witnesses on both sides could testify.
