As a result of the collision, all southbound lanes of Dixie Highway at San Jose Avenue are closed and expected to remain shut down until further notice.

The officer was helping another officer after a report of a break-in in progress when he was hit by another passenger vehicle as he entered the intersection.

MetroSafe said the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Gagel Avenue.

Renaldo Gill, 34, was arrested at the scene of the crash.

A woman died after crashing into two parked vehicles early Sunday morning in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.

Officers responded to a call shortly after 3 a.m. about a crash involving a pedestrian on Dixie Highway near Shipley Lane.

Louisville police said the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Dixie Highway, not far from Valley Station Road.

Police said two people were critically injured and two others had non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. 

Police said a van was traveling east on Valley Station Road and hit a pedestrian in the roadway who was walking in the eastbound lane.
