LMPD police lights generic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The driver of a hit-and-run Saturday morning that left a man in critical condition turned himself into Louisville Metro Police.

LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said officers responded around 4:30 a.m. to the 400 block of 2nd Street, near the Omni Louisville Hotel. The initial investigation showed a man was in the middle of 2nd Street,  when he was hit by a car that fled northbound toward the Clark Memorial Bridge after the crash.

Police said the victim was transported to nearby UofL Hospital in critical condition. 

Mitchell said a juvenile male turned himself into police Saturday evening. The victim is still in critical condition.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
