The district's current superintendent, Greg Schultz, retires at the end of June.
Middle and high schools students in Oldham County Public Schools will now be allowed to be in school for learning for the remainder of the school year and moving forward.
Schultz, who has been superintendent of the district since July 2016, made the announcement during the Oldham County Board of Education meeting.
As classes resume for elementary school students in Oldham County on Wednesday, Superintendent Greg Schultz says the district is prepared to safely welcome kids back into buildings.
This comes as Gov. Andy Beshear recommended on Monday that schools should delay in-person classes until Sept. 28.
During Monday night's special meeting the school board voted 4-1 to support Superintendent Greg Schultz's A/B schedule recommendation.
The decision came just after Gov. Andy Beshear's recommendation that public and private schools delay in-person instruction for the school year until at least the third week of August.
The board also approved a virtual academy for students who don't want to return to school buildings.
