Louisville Metro Police responded to the crash at Trent Avenue, near Wawa, around 7:42 a.m. Thursday.

LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey is speaking out following the resignation of Officer Alyssa Begel, whose high-speed crash killed another driver earlier this year.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. between the Bells Lane and Dumesnil Street exits.

It is believed that the man was traveling eastbound on Shelbyville Road when he lost control of the vehicle and went off the road.
