Zoneton Fire District honored firefighters for their service last year during a ceremony held in Shepherdsville on Saturday night.

October is the start of the fall fire hazard season, and the Zoneton Fire department is reminding residents about fire safety.

Firefighters spent at least five hours in the elements.

Santa is coming to town later this week, hitching a ride with the Zoneton Fire Department.

Fourteen firefighters graduated from firefighters recruit school after beginning training last February. 

Firefighters were notified at 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday and arrived five minutes later.
