LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Point guard is no longer a position of need for the University of Louisville men's basketball team.

Head coach Pat Kelsey scored maybe his biggest hit in the NCAA transfer portal with the news that Wisconsin guard Chucky Hepburn will play for the Cardinals next season, according to Shams Charania with The Athletic.

Hepburn started 103 games at point guard for the Badgers the last three seasons. Twice he was named honorable mention All-Big Ten.

After leading Wisconsin in scoring in 2023, Hepburn averaged 9.2 points with an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of better than 3:1 in 2023. He's not an exceptional shooter, making less than 43% of his field goal attempts, while shooting 32.2% from distance.

At 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 195 solid pounds, Hepburn is considered an elite defender and team leader who started for the Badgers from his first game as a freshman. Wisconsin made the NCAA Tournament during his freshman and junior seasons but failed to make it out of the first weekend of the tournament.

Hepburn had three 20-point games last season, including 22 against Purdue and 20 over Illinois.

In high school, Hepburn was four-star recruit from Bellevue West High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He picked Wisconsin over Creighton, Minnesota and Nebraska.
