LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Caesars Southern Indiana is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The casino in Elizabeth, Indiana, will mark its 25th anniversary on Nov. 20. Renee Nadeau with Caesars joined WDRB Mornings on Wednesday to share the casino's plans to celebrate the milestone.
The casino opened in 1998 as a riverboat, and the laws at the time required gamblers to purchase a two-hour cruise to gamble. In 2019, the land casino opened.
In the 25 years since Caesars first opened, it has welcomed more than 50 million visitors and paid out more than $2.7 billion to bettors, while contributing more than $2 billion in tax revenue to the state.
"It's a big year for us, 25 years," Nadeau said. "Actually, we've been celebrating all month with our team members. We have a really big weekend for our guests this weekend. Friday we have Blackberry Smoke in the building. There's a couple tickets left on Ticketmaster, so get your tickets quickly. On Saturday, we'll be giving away $2,500 in free plays every 25 minutes, starting at 5 o'clock."
Next weekend, the casino will give away $2.5 million in reward credits. The top price will be a $500,000 in reward credits and $10,000 in cash.
Of the 1,000 team members it now employs, 117 of them have continued working at the property since it opened in 1998.
The team has invested more than 200,000 volunteer hours since Caesars opened.
In January 2023, Caesars opened the new Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant, a premier fine-dining restaurant with a menu created by Chef Gordon Ramsay.
Caesars Southern Indiana is located at 11999 Casino Center Drive in Elizabeth.
