LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky will holds its 22nd annual Brain Ball on Friday.
The fundraising event is held every year and helps those impacted by brain injuries. This year, Louisville Metro Police Officer Nick Wilt will be honored.
The Old National Bank shooting hero will be at the event to receive an award. Last year, he attended the event in a wheelchair. This year, he will walk into the event on his own two feet.
The Brain Ball helps those who have gotten brain injuries in a wide variety of ways.
"Brain injuries can come in many ways," said Donna Brothers, co-chair of the Brain Ball. "It can be a traumatic blow to the head, an aneurysm or a stroke. So the Brain Injury Alliance is here to connect people with the help that they need."
The ball will be held at The Olmsted, and tickets are still available on their website.
