After another cold snap, many of you are asking us "when will winter be over?" and we're getting close! First, a quick note. For meteorological record-keeping, March 1 is the beginning of spring. Astronomically, though, spring starts March 19 at the spring equinox. We are really trying to answer the question "are we done with snow and cold yet?" so let's discuss.
With March right around the corner, we have entered the time of year where "normal" temperatures are rising again. We should be getting warmer; that's normal. When you look at the weather data, it also suggests we are staying in a pattern of above normal temperatures as we open March. The Climate Prediction Center has issued the outlook below showing a high likelihood of above normal temperatures in the next six to ten days.Ā
We've had snow as late as May, so anything is possible. But at this point it does look like we are getting into a warmer, more spring-like weather pattern.Ā
