LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Downtown Louisville will soon transform into a celebration of African culture, with music, food and art taking over 4th Street Live! for a free community festival next month.
The Louisville Africa Day Festival is set for its second year on Saturday, May 30, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., bringing an evening of live entertainment and cultural experiences to the heart of the city.
Organizers said the event is designed to highlight African heritage and the African diaspora while creating a space for community connection through performance, cuisine and local vendors.
Festivalgoers can expect high-energy live music and dance performances blending traditional and contemporary African styles. An art and craft marketplace will showcase local creators, including handmade goods and live painting throughout the evening.
Food vendors will also serve a variety of authentic African dishes, offering attendees a chance to experience flavors from across the continent.
"We are thrilled to bring this celebration to such an iconic venue like 4th Street Live," co-organizer Dj Oko Mensah said. "Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels welcome to experience the beauty of African culture while strengthening our local community ties."
Admission is free, and organizers said the event is open to all ages.
